At 13:30.
Though they were pretty bad at keeping it secret, my 1ºB bilingual students threw Lily and I a surprise party to send us off. It was really nice of them. They planned it all out, brought the food, played music, tried to dance--a typical junior high party/dance. It was hilarious and a lot of fun. At first, we were all just crowding around, and then in typical junior high style, all of the boys ended up on one side of the room with all of the girls on the other side. Classic. And no one wanted to dance except for a few cool kids. They even tried to breakdance!
Then I felt a little bit like I was the groom at a Mexican wedding because the boys in the class decided it was time to pick me up off the ground and, you know, throw and catch me in the air. Crazy. I must be better prepared next time a group of thirteen-year-olds comes running up to me if I want to remain standing.
Anyway, the school is treating Lily and I very, very well during our last few days. The English department took us out to eat at this really nice restaurant last week. (Talk about good food. Mmm.) After the four-course dinner, they toasted us with some champagne, and then in typical Spanish fashion, decided, "Okay, time to go to the next bar," and bought us an after-dinner drink. Then one of the younger teachers (Sergio, who is a really cool guy) smoked Lily, me and another teacher out. That was a bit weird at first but awesome nonetheless.
I've been getting pretty nervous about my upcoming travels (six weeks alone!), but I'm also really excited. I've been really thinking about what I'll be packing in my awesome new backpack and where I'll be going. I'm planning to have a rough guide of which cities I want to visit, but really, if anything else comes up anywhere, I'd be more than willing to scratch the plan and wing it. I just know I must be in Prague on June 24th for a flight to Barcelona, and then again in Málaga on July 16th for the flight home.
It sucks because our lease in Málaga doesn't end until June 30th, so I'm having to find a roommate who'll sublet my room for one month. I've had a few people come see it, but nothing is concrete yet. I also have to meet with the owner to pay our bills, do the deposit thing, etc. Moving sucks.
Well, I'm not sure how often I'll have Internet access soon because I leave on Saturday. So, if anytime during the next few weeks you see a strange-looking number on your caller ID, answer it because it might be me calling you from some random cybercafe.
